Edwina Brisbane

Architect and Teaching Associate
Cumulus Studio, Monash and Melbourne Universities

A part-time design tutor at both Monash and the University of Melbourne, Edwina Brisbane is well versed in new and emerging concepts within the world of architecture. Zany, yet strategic, her ability to find new opportunities and cut to the heart of things is particularly clear in her strong portfolio of work.
Edwina is drawn to shadows and texture. She enjoys thinking about things from multiple perspectives and carefully considers the way in which her work operates at different scales - the urban, the site, the object, and the detail.
In 2016, Edwina undertook a sabbatical to assist with the design and construction of a remote multi-cabin project on a small island in northern Norway. The ambition of a resourceful Norwegian jazz saxophonist, the project has won numerous international awards including the Architizer A+ People’s choice award for Concept – Architecture + Landscape.
Now based in Melbourne, Edwina regularly seeks opportunities for diversity, upskilling and education in her practice. She is a respected, active voice in the Victorian architecture community and a committed industry contributor, most recently volunteering as co-curator of PROCESS, The Better Living Forum, co-chair of the AIA Emerging Architecture Graduates Network Forum, a guest design critic and sitting on the AIA Vic Awards Jury.
