Streetscape and Public Space Designer (landscape architect)

I am a landscape architect of English-Pakistani background living in Melbourne. I have degrees in landscape architecture and fine arts (sculpture major) which has included studying in India and Mexico.

My interest is design in the public realm and how landscape architecture can fit sustainably in to a wider context within a community, a street, a city or landscape and the world. This exploration has involved the design of wide range of projects with a diverse range of community groups. I'm particularly interested in marginalised spaces and marginalised people. This led me to work in Sri Lanka with the Planning Institute of Australia / AusAID / Red Cross as an urban designer and to undertake a Master of Social Science (2015).

I have worked in the public and private sectors for around fifteen years specialising in public space and urban park design including Moonee Valley Council (senior l.a. - streetscapes), City of Sydney (senior l.a.), OCULUS (associate), Hume City Council (l.a.), Brimbank City Council (senior l.a.), City of Yarra (public space designer), TCL (l.a.), Clouston (l.a.) and others.

I have also run design studios at RMIT landscape architecture department and at Monash University MADA (Architecture).
