Bek Verrier

Project Architect
Bence Mulcahy

Bek is a project architect at Bence Mulcahy in Hobart, where she is working across a range of scales on residential, educational and commercial projects. Bek is the 2016 Tasmanian Emerging Architect, and she has been actively involved in the local architectural profession as a Chapter Councillor, a member of the Emerging Architects Tasmania (EAT), on the awards committee and most recently one of the co-founders of the Tasmanian Women in Architecture group. Between 2011-2016 Bek worked at Preston Lane Architects where she worked on a number of award winning projects.

In 2011 Bek graduated from the University of Tasmania with First Class Honours, her thesis entitled ‘Place Portraits’ took on a multidisciplinary approach to design, and relied heavily upon informal conversations with local people and local lives. After graduating Bek has attended numerous international architectural workshops, in particular a Master Class on Maria Island and the inaugural Utzon symposium in Marrakesh Morocco.

Her interest in colour and light extends beyond architecture to a range of making practices: ceramics, weaving and garment production. She loves to ‘get on the tools’ renovating, building and painting. Bek is interested in finding the fun in projects, both in the process of engagement and in the delightful small-scale details that give a little more lift to the life of architecture.
