Cox Architecture
<p>Christina was born in Seoul and raised in Brisbane. Her practice in architecture, art and design, focuses on creating opportunities to spread creative, cultural and collaborative dialogue.</p> <p>Christina is a registered architect in Queensland and a Director of Cox Architecture. She is co-organiser of PechaKucha Night Brisbane and over the last 10 years has curated over 50 events providing a platform for creatives from diverse backgrounds to learn, share, exchange ideas</p> <p>Through leadership within the profession and increased public profile and presence, Christina hopes to change the perception of stereotypes within our profession. At the same time, she hopes to empower young women architects, especially those from multi-cultural backgrounds, to make meaningful contributions and together increase the awareness and understanding the role architecture can perform in shaping our cities.</p> <p>Christina studied architecture at the University of California, Berkeley, and University of Queensland graduating as Valedictorian with first class honours. She was a recipient of the Dulux Study Tour for emerging architects, and Finalist in the Qantas SOYA Awards. Christina was recently featured in the book "Chasing the Sky: 20 stories of women in Architecture."</p> <p>Christina’s side projects include explorations into ways in which to trigger human conversations and interactions that activate public space and bring it to life. As a founding member of the Rice Cake Mafia design collective, Christina has collaborated with designers in Seoul, Boston and London on public art installations, one being the winning entry in a global competition for Tokyo’s Designers Week. This work enriches her interest and ability in creating interactive public spaces. She is committee member of FutureNet, Member of the University of Queensland School of Architecture Advisory Board, and Past Chair of the Australian Institute of Architects Emerging Architects and Graduate’s Network (EmAGN).</p>
