The Walter Burley Griffin Society has launched the Marion Mahony Griffin Funding Request to help finance a contemporary sculpture in honour of Marion.

The Walter Burley Griffin Society was established in 1988 in Sydney, Australia. It commemorates the lives and works of Walter Burley Griffin (1876–1937) and Marion Mahony Griffin (1871–1961) and promotes the environmental ideals and community life they fostered in Australia.

To commemorate the centenary of the Griffins’ Castlecrag and the 150th anniversary of Marion Mahony Griffin’s birth in 2021, the Society has launched the Marion Mahony Griffin Funding Request to help finance a contemporary sculpture in honour of Marion.

Donors can be one of a small number of people who will enjoy some specially organised private events during the next few months.

Exclusive cocktail party and tour at the Fishwick house

5.30–7.30pm Friday, 27 November 2020

Griffin’s 1929 Fishwick house is one of the most significant and celebrated early 20th century houses in Australia.  Spectacular, enchanting and beautifully restored with a wonderful secluded native garden, it is rarely open to the public.

A contribution of $1,000 entitles the donor and a guest to have a private tour of the house and garden led by its owners. This will be followed by a cocktail party, where you can enjoy fine wine and canapés with stunning views of Middle Harbour at dusk. The highlight will be the announcement of the sculptor and the introduction of the design concept.

This event has strictly limited capacity to comply with Covid-19 regulations. For catering purposes, donations qualifying for the cocktail party will need to be received by Tuesday 24 November (unless booked out prior).
