Sophie Powell

Senior Urban Designer | Architect | Academic Tutor
Tract Consultants

Sophie is a registered architect both in Australia and the UK, and Senior Urban Designer at Tract Consultants in Sydney. She has a broad range of experience in residential, commercial, mixed use and large-scale master planning projects in Australia and overseas in design and construction stages.

Prior to joining Tract, Sophie was an architect at Grimshaw in the Sydney studio, working on large-scale urban projects and strategic transit-oriented development. She is passionate about sustainable and responsive urban design and brings an architectural background to this field, centered in human-scale design.

Before moving towards urban design, Sophie worked with Fletcher Priest Architects in London, on a high-end mixed-use redevelopment in central London, through the tender process including a complex cladding package. She has therefore experienced a wide range of scales of design, from intricate details to broad principles.

Sophie graduated from the University of Bath, and the University of Portsmouth in the UK, with awards for Sustainability and Innovation in Architecture, and was nominated for the RIBA President's Medal for her thesis. She has contributed to Bloomsbury's 'Representational Techniques for Architects', and currently acts as an academic tutor at UTS.
